LECTURES
Week 14
Public holiday, no class and no lecture for Week 14, continue with the Project 4.

TUTORIAL/INSTRUCTION

PRACTICAL/PROCESS
Week 14 Overview:
Focus: Continuation animating of the Self Titled

CONTINUATION ANIMATING SELF TITLED
Based on Week 13, I have already edited through half of the process, now its time to continue.

RESEARCH AND INSPIRATION:
Last week (Week 13) I have finished the animation. I stopped after I was finished editing the flow red lines.

Here is the last week result:

Now, I continue the editing in CapCut, by adding the sound / audio and edit the timeline.

IDEATION:
EDITING TO CAPCUT
After finishing the animation, I exported it and rendered it into a MP4 file just like how the lecturer show in his tutorial video.

1) Adding and Splitting Video
I added the full rendered video into CapCut and split the video into 3 parts so that it would be a continuous video, like a gif until it reached 15 seconds.

2) Searching Song
I searched up a piano song and found this artist called pedram. He made a song called Song of the Fireflies which fit perfectly with my animation since the piano notes really explains the flow lines of creativity which I wanted to emphasize on.

3) Download Song
I downloaded the song by using another website called y2mate.nu

4) Adding and Editing Song

I added the song into the 15 second video and cut it so it fits the video nicely. I also made the song gradually fading towards the end to indicate that the video is coming to an end.

Artists Statement

This animation reflects on my everyday experience as a Creative Media student, where ideas constantly flow and shape the things I usually create. The object forming in front of me represents how my thoughts transform into something that is my art style.

The eyes surrounding me symbolize being observed and judge to show that every artwork is seen through many different opinions. Their presence show the pressure when it comes to creating.

Through this piece, I wanted to show the balance between the joy of creating art and the pressure of being judge and watched. This work is a way to show my creative world and the passion that keeps me motivated to do art.

REFLECTION
Experience
My experience making the animation was hectic. At first, when I finished the animation, I only needed to export it, but that caused my whole computer to crash. I even had to replace the fan in my computer just to make it work again. Even with the efforts I did, it still crashed. In the end, I deleted some effects I had added before which helped a lot. After that, I was able to export the animation easily.

Observations
Making the animation was also a bit scary since it was my first time using After Effects. The many panels and buttons were overwhelming at first. However, with the help of Youtube tutorials, I finally got the gist of it. I also realized that I only used about 20% of what After Effects can do, which made me notice how powerful and flexible the program is.

Findings
From this experience, I learned that practice, problem solving and seeking guidance are really important when learning a new software. I also discovered the importance of simplifying or adjusting the effects to make projects manageable. Finally, this task has motivated me to explore more of After Effects in future projects.
